The structure
Six parts. One signature.
The sample report has six parts; the template offers 19, 5 of them required, and never prints an empty section.
| Section | What it contains | Who writes it |
|---|---|---|
| 01Statement and disclaimer | The expert’s statement of independence and disclaimer | Your standard wording, reviewed by the expert |
| 02Background and facts | The context and the timeline reported by the client | The expert, from the case file |
| 03Findings and analysis of defects | Each observation and its photos, then its analysis | The expert records; Tracelia drafts an analysis, which the expert reviews, corrects and approves |
| 04Conclusions | The answers to the questions of the assignment | Tracelia drafts; the expert approves |
| 05Recommendations | Protective measures, further investigations, repairs, maintenance | Tracelia drafts; the expert approves |
| 06Expert cost estimate | Costs by trade, as ranges, excl. and incl. VAT | Tracelia drafts; the expert approves |
The report can be generated only once the required steps are approved.

Three excerpts
Three exhibits from the report.
The orange markers show what to read in them: what Tracelia drafted, as is, and what was approved in the fictional case. The report is in French; the notes are in English.

Excerpt 1 · The analysis
Here, the analysis stays within the findings.
The analysis is the backbone of the report. It keeps what the observations establish apart from what calls for further investigation. Tracelia drafted it from the case findings; it was approved in the fictional case.
- Facts first The analysis is drafted from the findings recorded in the case.
- Uncertainty, in writing “Un indice, non une démonstration” (an indication, not proof): the limit is stated outright.
- A probable cause Argued from the findings; the expert keeps it or rewrites it.
As Tracelia drafted it, unedited.

Excerpt 2 · The recommendations
Your client knows where to start.
The recommendations follow an order: protective measures without delay, then further investigations, repairs and maintenance. Tracelia proposed the order; it was approved in the fictional case. The report states that these recommendations are no substitute for hiring an architect or engineer to design and oversee the repairs.
- One priority Targeted repair comes after the investigations.
- In the right order Painting waits until the cause is treated and the ceiling has dried.
As Tracelia drafted it, unedited.

Excerpt 3 · The cost estimate
Ranges, not a quote.
The estimate prices the work by trade, as ranges excl. and incl. VAT: an opinion of probable cost, not a bid. Tracelia drafted it; it was approved in the fictional case.
- Ranges Excl. and incl. VAT, with the VAT shown.
- Line by line Each item states what it covers, its unit and its quantity.
As Tracelia drafted it. Illustrative amounts.
Expert cost estimate, given as a range; not a contractor quote.

AI in TraceliaTracelia uses a generative AI model to draft an analysis from your site findings. AI can make mistakes: you review, edit and approve every report, and you sign it as the responsible expert.

Questions
Your questions.
Why only excerpts?
A full report runs long, is in French, and proves itself only on a real case. These three excerpts show the sections that carry the weight: how Tracelia drafts and what the expert approves. The rest of the sample stays unpublished.
Why is the report in French?
Tracelia was designed for French practice. Its interface and the reports it produces are in French; every screenshot on this site is captioned “Interface shown in French.”
Can I edit the report before sending it?
Yes. Tracelia exports the report in PDF and Word. Make your final changes in Word if you wish, then sign.
Does this template fit litigation work?
Its sections and standard wording adapt to each type of assignment. In court-appointed work under French rules, the expert must carry out the assignment personally (Code of Civil Procedure, art. 233): Tracelia only prepares drafts: you review, rework or discard them, and every word of the report remains yours. It has no feature dedicated to the proceedings themselves: notices to the parties, interim reports, responses to the parties’ submissions.
Why a fictional case rather than a real one?
An expert report holds information about real people and real property. We publish no client case: every screenshot and every excerpt on this site comes from a fictional demo case.
Weigh the evidence.
These excerpts show what Tracelia drafts. On your own cases, you record, review, approve and sign.
